Westfield Photography Rules

This is the latest email from Westfield.

As you can see, at least now they have progressed to understanding that they need to have an official request form to support the CCTV subject requests by any interested party. Previously they had said that they do not provide CCTV footage to any member of the Public.

I suspect there may be more delays, but my aim is to bring this matter to the attention of the CIO’s office as soon as possible if it is not resolved and also if they do not change their policy on stopping innocent people taking holiday snaps, as was the case when they stopped me.

I have evidence of the fact that they told a lie about having ‘No Photography’ notices on the enterances.

Also that there is no statement of the policy that the shoppers can use one type of camera or not, or whether they can take pictures of one thing or another or not. I will expand on this in another post.

Any further advise from those in the know, would be very much appreciated.

Dear *****,

Thank you for your email.

Please be assured that Westfield London Centre Management is making every effort to resolve this matter to your satisfaction.

I would like to advise that David M***** will be sending you the official request form on Monday. Once this is received and processed, we will be in contact to advise on any further action.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Kind regards

I saw a news report some months ago about some similar trouble outside Westfields and have been trying to track down a report online and now have at: http://shepherds-bush.blogspot.com/2010/11/westfield-heavies-bundle-librarians.html – You should copy your complaint to this blog also and keep up the presure on the likes of Westfields and “reclaim the streets” and not be intimidated by this bullying.

Hi LG, similar incident happened to me at Westfield yesterday – I was using my SLR and a security guard told me to stop taking photos. He specifically stated that it’s because I was using a “big camera” and that photography is not allowed. I asked if I could use my iPhone instead, and funnily enough he said that was fine. I informed him that there are no signs posted and that I always bring my camera with me to Westfield (which is frequently) and that this was the first time I’d eve been stopped.

He informed me that apparently it’s a new rule and that there are signs at the entrances – I went and checked and there are (albeit not in a prominent location – it’s on the wall with thebother rules (eg no skating etc) and it states that “no photography is allowed without permission”.

A bit annoying but I’m going to continue using it – the only thing they can do is to tell you to stop or tell you Ieave the premises
